Over 40 eight-person teams dug in yesterday to pull massive tractors across a finish line in the fastest time – but the biggest winner was the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. The event, called Tractor Tug for Tots, raised over $13,200, thanks to teams from the University, the city of Guelph, and surrounding areas. The teams worked against the clock to pull two 17,000-lb. Case and John Deere tractors 100 feet, cheered on by appreciative crowds. The event was organized by students of the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) at the University of Guelph, with help from local sponsors and the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. The top three fastest-pulling teams, in order, were Guelph Police, Elmira Farm Service, and the OAC Grad Students. The team from the OAC Dean’s Office was recognized as the Top Fundraisers, while an enthusiastic 1st year student team was awarded Best Dressed for sporting their super-hero gear. All the money raised from pledges the teams collected will be donated directly to the Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, which supports local youth by giving kids the chance to participate in summer camps, sports teams, music or dance class, and scholarships. Thanks again to everyone who came out and made the event so successful again this year! Both Teams of Bucks pulled really well, The guys winning both their pulls and the girls winning 1 of the 2!!!!
